Revolution Baby: Motherhood and Anarchy in Kyrgyzstan was launched at the Royal West of England Academy in Bristol on Saturday 17th November 2007.
Two hundred guests enjoyed Kyrgyz hospitality – vodka shots, salami and pickles, boiled sweets, nuts, apricots and borsok, a Kyrgyz donut kindly made and donated by Nora from the Kyrgyz-Kazakh restaurant in Camberwell Road, London.
Representatives of the Kyrgyz Embassy attended and the author Saffia Farr presented Gulbara Abdrazakova, wife of the Ambassador, with a copy of Revolution Baby.

The author is wearing hand embroidered coat designed and made by Dilbar, Bishkek.
Guests were welcomed to the festival with vodka, traditionally used for celebratory toasts in Kyrgyzstan.
Tim Hutton from Yurt Works in Bodmin was displaying one of his yurts.
Anara, dressed in traditional Kyrgyz costume, was selling felt crafts handmade in Kyrgyzstan.
Two yurts, traditional nomadic felt tents, were on display. One is owned by the author and was made by hand in a remote village in Kyrgyzstan. One was made by Tim Hutton of Yurt Works.

Sally Floyd wore traditional Kyrgyz costume, the “elechek” hat irreverently referred to in Revolution Baby as the Christmas-cake hat.
The author gave a speech thanking all those who had helped her publish the book and make the evening such a success.
